@thatcrtglow: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 🌴 The memories this game holds for me are immeasurable. I recall my mum pre-ordering the game for me at GameStation when I was just 13 years old. Launch night, my friends and I huddled around the small CRT TV in my room, all waiting for our turn to play this incredible experience. It shaped my love for 80s music. The story, neon lights, voice acting, and atmosphere were unmatched. Unfortunately, my excitement for GTA VI took a nosedive yesterday when Rockstar announced a “code in a box” release. I just don’t buy the argument that “there will be leaks from discs before launch.” Clearly, I love and advocate for physical media, so this is a real shame and a slippery slope. There has been a clear revival of physical media, with vinyl records, 4K Blu-rays, and older formats being sought after for preservation and as tangible pieces of history, something we actually own. The ritual of going to a store, holding the game in your hands, opening the case, smelling the manual and map, and then putting the disc into the console. It just won’t be the same. Not to mention how anti-consumer it feels. Collectors and enthusiasts will likely end up double-dipping when Rockstar eventually releases a physical edition #gta #playstation #retrogaming #grandtheftauto #physicalmedia
