The Reform Party, its members and supporters, seem to be unable to grasp that under the UK’s unwritten constitution, the system simply does not work that way. The fundamental rule of the Westminster system is that the British public elects a Parliament, not a President The governing mandate belongs to the political party that can command a majority in the House of Commons, not to the individual person serving as Prime Minister. It is the right of the Labour Party, and all other political parties, to allow their members (not the public) to elect who will lead them. If that party happens to hold a mandate to govern from the people then that elected person would become the PM. This constitutional and democratic concept seems to elude Reform Party supporters 😂
