I combine both too. It’s the best for lean muscles.

I agree - both is the key! The amount each person chooses to do

I don’t get this whole argument it’s so stupid. Be active, lift weights, walk with friends, ride your bicycle, go paddle boarding, skiing … move your body. There’s no good or bad. Be active.

Pilates by Izzy is so good because it combines the both of them.

A lot of the time it’s not lifting that’s inherently causing puffiness etc, it’s the fact that the lifting is combined with 5 hours of sleep and inadequate nutrition - it’s a whole lifestyle, recovery and nutrition is so so overlooked

Girl I do both, and I’ve weightlifting for years and that’s not what’s making you bloated or “puffy”. Bloating isn’t caused strictly by lifting lol

As a 56 yo- 5’1” fitness junkie who started Pilates in the early 2000 and ended up an instructor. I have always had to battle just maintaining weight. I feel like I can speak to this. Every BODY is different and responds differently to fitness and food. Every AGE and hormones complicates it further. All i can say is listen to your body and do not ever settle into one thing AS A PERMANENT fitness routine. I promise you, you will wake up one day and it will no longer work… the whole thing- fitness, food- everything. I’ve experimented with all the combos. It does change. Your body’s response will change. Listen to your body. We’re all different.

I found the perfect mix is lifting 5x a week and doing Pilates 3-4x as well. Reformer didn’t give me any noticeable changes but I’ve been doing at home mat and have seen huge changes in a matter of weeks

YES - same experience! Did CrossFit for 10 years. Now, I mix lighter maintenance lifting or calisthenics and do some pretty tough thirty minute Pilates - great for isolating

That’s exactly what I do - lift 3-4 days a week, Pilates 1-2x and walk walk walk every day. Pilates keeps my core strong to protect it during those heavy lifts!

About Issa :
People aren’t mentioning how important it is to have the proper diet too! A lot of inflammation can be from food!

Both is the answer. Lift 3 days, 2-3 days barre/pilates + incline walking 20-30 minutes a day

Literally this exact same thing happened to me. The weightlifting - Pilates - both pipeline is REAL. I looked fluffy only doing Pilates
