might be a hot take but I don't consider people who do that as ACTUAL artists.. 9 times out of ten, they aren't TRYING to figure out why the drawing was made that way, or the anatomy, or trying to understand how to draw it in the first place, and just going off of what they see.. I mean like, sure, pretty impressive copying skills, but now whenever you try to draw WITHOUT blatantly copying a reference you saw on Pinterest, it's vastly different in skill level. it's a non issue, and I much prefer it over ai art, but legit there's nothing interesting about it imo 💔

I admit, I use to do this alot. But I did it to basically train my hand to get use to drawing before I move to digital.. Most people around me used it so they can get used to the anatomy, same with tracing for better pattern recognition for the anatomy.

What I dont like is the lack of refering to their sources. Someof these artists would deliverately leave out the credit of the art the copied. Bc of that, they get the credit as if they entirely made the drawing + anime art reposters who also just repost the copy traditional version n tag them or none at all

does it make sense if i feel the same about SOME digital artists that just straight up draw a reference? like ALLLL of their POSTED drawings are some reference pictures without any changes, don't get me wrong!!!!!!!!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️i know copying a picture is pretty for studying lighting, shadows and other stuff but posting it and making it your only content to kinda show off their copy skills doesn't sit right with me 💔 and i dont mean using a reference to draw a character, i mean those who see a picture and just draw everything how it is, without changes
