@bioncasmith3: Part 1 of 2 videos I’m releasing tonight. This is one of the scariest and riskiest decisions I’ve ever had to make as a rescuer and I would’ve quit after this if it weren’t for my fantastic followers being donors. So many lives have been saved to date. ♥️ This case: One of our new rescue puppies started showing signs of Parvo but it wasn’t Parvo. After we ruled out that it wasn’t Parvo or worms at the vet, we suspected it was her body’s reaction to the medicine prescribed to treat her mange. It wasn’t this either and Blue Belle steadily grew lethargic to the point where we were referred to the emergency vet. Upon arrival they immediately informed me that the vet bill would start at $1,264 for critical care treatment and $643 for CPR if needed. This didn’t include testing, antibiotics or any overnight care. We moved forward with the initial evaluation and the expenses kept racking up. Euthanasia was not an option in our mind because we could afford the bill. After we were told she’d need a blood transfusion that would be $4,500 for an overnight treatment, I didn’t know what to do because that’s as much as our monthly expenses at the sanctuary right now. So I prayed that whatever was in God’s will…let it be done. I’ll be releasing part 2 in about 30-45 minutes. I just wanted to share this moment because when the vet told me this, my whole body felt numb. The emergency vet didn’t have any payment plans, bill me later or anything close. I had to pay a deposit and then pay in full or Blue Belle would be discharged. I refused to give up. In the meantime, can someone tell me a vet story? Have you ever taken a rescue to the vet that was or wasn’t your pet and been faced with an outrageous bill? How did you handle it? Did you euthanize? Did it survive? Stay tuned for Blue Belle’s current status. 🥺 #animalrescue #dogs #puppies
