Yes the water heater plug is suppose to be plastic, it’s a dometic water heater.

that plastic plug is temporary there is supposed to be an anode or something like that which corrodes instead of your water heater tank. the low point drain valves could be directly above them in a a cabinet or drawer.

Plastic plug is standard on water heater w/ aluminum tank. No anode rod needed. Best way to check for leaks is to fill the fresh tank and turn the water pump on. If there is a leak the pump will run sporadically.

You don't want anything other than plastic so that way if pressure builds up it won't blow out your lines. it'll blow the plug out.
