The motive behind "Your instructor/Coach" being at your back is to support you when you're failing so you do better which is why you chose him as your coach and not the opposite... Most coaches take caution in respect to proximity and are tempted to come closer only when you begin to fail and oh not all touches when supporting rather just get hold of the weight to make it lighter and safer when dropping...
And if it's about personal observation then try to know the relationship between the people you're observing before you judge...
