@neilmccahill: Not every disability looks the same…. and neither does every amputee. Agree or disagree? 👇#amputee #chronicillness #disability #prosthetic #lifestories

yes, every amputee deserves one because without a prosthetic we can't ambulate like everyone else. there's days I can't wear mine. I've been an amputee for 27 years and I've had one all along and grateful for the option because I go months without using it. I like to save it for others who need it when I don't.

I’m an AKA as well and I have one, but I don’t use it when I don’t need to. Some days I am feeling good and want to walk farther. Some days the pain is horrendous, so I physically can’t.

I’m below the knee, I have neuroma issues so it’s hard for me to walk currently. I think it depends on the situation. Not every case is the same, I personally think only the patient themselves knows what works for them.

I’m a LBKA. Most of the time I don’t use it, but occasionally I do. I average 15,000 steps per day on good days, but all it takes is one bad day to turn into weeks of bad days!

I'd say it depends on the situation for each person but wouldn't having it for the bad days be better then not

Absolutely, if there are days you need access to a space that makes your ability to function possible, then you should have access to that space. Like I tell my husband. On days you feel like you don’t need to use the space, park somewhere else and leave it open for someone who needs it. However, only you know when you need it and you should use it when you deem it necessary for whatever reason.

I'm AK and don't have one. All should have the ability. Function varies by day.

I have an "invisible" illness. I never judge anyone who thinks they need one. I only use mine for emergencies. Its literally just a parking spot. No reason to gate keep it. Should be open to anyone who thinks they need one/functionality. Not just the disability itself.

Not all days are functioning days, and I'm like yourself, but remember, not all amputees only have one leg or both arms, etc., and the list goes on. As you would know, like I do after having my prosthesis for 25 years now, you go for months while sockets are no longer fitting and you're in the process of having a new one made and so on. It only takes one bad day for some, and it's weeks of no mobility, and that's just one leg. Imagine what it's like for people out there with two legs and an arm. They are 100% in the top 10% of people who should have the permit, alongside people needing wheelchairs.

easy yes. the first time you have to struggle to get in a store on crutches when the spots are full is the last time you’ll ever think about using it when you don’t absolutely need it.

Get the plaquard or the permanent plate. If you’re having a good day or there are non-handicap spaces near the entrance to a business use those first.

I think you should have it and use it when you need it. You understand the value of those parking spaces. If you’re having a good day, I would leave that space for somebody that needs it if you’re having a bad day use the space. Just because you have a handicap tag does not mean you always have to use it. Yes I think that should go for everybody with a handicap tag. I technically qualify for one but don’t have it.

I think if you're disabled you're disabled, Now how you chose to use your card / sticker depends all on how you feel but you should be entitled to it ! I'm a transtibial amputee and we get good days and bad days but I'm not one to say or judge others

Yes. Because not every amputee wants to wear their prosthetic all the time. Also I have an amputee friend that can’t wear her leg until they fix her nerve that became bulbous
