@sfgate: Under The Deluxe's mirrored ceiling, a packed crowd sips greyhounds as Mitch Polzak, his rhinestone-studded suit sparkling in the light, tears into a honky-tonk stomper. The band veers between surf and rockabilly while longtime regular Gayle Lipman coaxes wallflowers onto the dance floor. It's opening night at the newly revived Deluxe, a Haight Street music institution that sat dormant for years until a week ago. Polzak played some of his first gigs there in 1999 and was among the last musicians to take its stage before it first closed at the start of the pandemic.
