Your experiences in a dirty house sound awful! I’m sorry! My growing up experience was the opposite. My mom was overly clean and it has harmed me mentally. For example, from sunup to past sundown, we had 2 weeks of deeeeeep Spring cleaning in the summers. Not a corner or space wasn’t touched, wiped down, and oiled (wood) if needed. Also during Spring Cleaning, my mom was activated and angry 95% of the time. we also had weekly cleanings that are inspected and rarely passed. I had to be on my hands and knees scrubbing all the floor tiles (and there was a lot). We also had daily regular cleanings with an angry parent. You better do it the best or you’re screwed. Cleaning before and after guests was hugely important to her and she was not happy while we were cleaning for guests. I can’t have guests in my home now. It’s too triggering. I am constantly anxious that our home is too dirty because with my health issues, even though I clean bathrooms and floors weekly and dust monthly and do daily regularly cleanings, I literally can’t get in every single corner to clean. I do try though. It’s not good. Sorry we both had to go through crap in our childhoods.

yes i love my MIL and grew up clean home I didn't like to clean when I was Lil but I'm glad my mom made me now I love it 🥰

I grew up in a clean house, but I am the very same. If anyone is coming over I’m cleaning ever square inch of the house! It’s just how I want my house to be seen and I want people to feel comfortable.
