I have ADHD and I don't understand how people with ADHD are ever late to something. if I have to be somewhere that is the only thing i'm thinking about from the moment I wake up

half the time it boils down to them doing nothing about being late, like you KNOW you need more time to get ready so why are you not getting up earlier???

chronically 5 minutes late is whatever, chronically 15 minutes late is an issue that you need to see resolve. I have a friend, that is always a minimum of 20 minutes late and I've stopped hanging out with that guy

Chronically late people being friends with other chronically late people is the best route to go

“Time blindness” for me means I show up really early for everything and if I have an activity planned later in the day I cannot consider doing anything else beforehand. Doctors appointment at 3 pm? By 11 am I must wrap up anything else I was doing. I’m leaving the house at 2 pm and sitting in my car until 2:45 pm.

There are varying degrees of lateness too. If you are 5-10 minutes late often, but less than half of the time, you get a pass IMO. But if you are 15+ minutes late more than half of the time, you need to work on it. (And if you’re ever consistently like 1hr+ late we just aren’t waiting for you lol. Welcome to join when you get here but don’t be surprised that we’re already eating)

Do people who are always late know that they can set alarms to remind themselves to get ready and leave by a certain time so they aren’t late

I have adhd and time blindness. I know this and will make sure to wake myself up an hour earlier than I need to so I can be sure I can get things done on time 🤷♀️when you care, you will try

I’m don’t really care as long as it’s like 10 mins max. But I’m chronically late (to some things). Like loose plans? Late by 5-10 mins. Reservations, airport? Not late. Event (venue)? Fashionably late. Like I REFUSE to be the first or one of the first people but I’m not even close to the last person arriving

I wish I weren't a chronically late person. I've gotten way better, but I relapse and I'm still like 5-10 minutes late consistently. My entire family is incapable of being on time. I try to organize plans in ways that can make me not be late, like inviting people to come to my house so we can leave together, and they can manage time better than me so we aren't late.
