Honestly I believe it more after this chapter. The fall itself happened at complete different times. So it’s not serious. His “Holidays are full of surprises.” Line was practically screaming it. I think his sickness stems from a past Dark World. Like how Berdly reels from the effects of Snowgrave. In the “normal route” Rudy probably faked it and insisted Carol to call her over because the threshold of Noelle/Susies relationship surpassed what was needed for the Prophecy. I thought it was Carol herself, but Asgore was pretty insistent on how she could be helpful somewhat when they were sourcing for outside help. Rudy does check a lot of boxes. ATLEAST Rudy has definitely been to a dark world before. Carol is gonna be Lawful Good while Rudy is gonna be Lawful Evil.
