It honestly just depends on where you look. The vocal side of TT is definitely like that. A lot of it is anime-onlys parroting takes they heard from novel readers without much context which is especially common with Re:0. But saying you haven't seen a single normal Re:0 fan makes me think you've only been exposed to that vocal minority 😭 There are plenty of people here who could talk for hours about why they love re:0 beyond just subaru. I just don't think that generalization is true, and it kinda does a disservice to the fans who genuinely love engaging with the story as a whole

I like subaru because of his personality, character development, his return by death ability, his relationship with other characters, his backstory and the fact he's not a normal op isekai mc character and many more other stuff

Mushoku tensai is my favorite novel/anime bc of the whole building and the character writing not even just Rudy every character in Mushoku plays a part in the story and is never forgotten. I love that the author created Mushoku and kept writing the story he wanted to tell and not changing it or feeling like he should censor what he wants to write about bc people don’t like it or hate. I love that it takes a lot to understand the story bc for some reason people think the story is about Rudy being redeemed or him wanting to be a hero or a good person. When that’s not the story Rudy is still not a good person he does good things but he only does it when I benefits him or if he’s negatively affected by it. I can keep going a true Mushoku fan understands his peak and perfect the story is I wouldn’t change anything about it.

just because you're interacting with the bad parts of the fanbases doesn't mean you should project that onto everyone lmao. re:zero has had a really devoted fanbase for a decade now and if there are 'larps' as you say why would you include them in fanbase conversations? they don't read it so they aren't fans.
