Unfortunately I show up for others but because I’m deemed “the strong one”, no one shows up for me. They think I don’t need it. They think I’m unbreakable. No village during postpartum but I’m on speed dial for everyone. I stopped showing up for others and show up for myself now instead.

I wish i could share this to everyone I spent my life showing up for…. And then couldn’t bother to show up when my dad died. My circle is small now, but it’s peaceful.

The problem is, some of us are used by “friends” they say they love us because we go out of our way to help, but it isn’t returned. And when you just need a friend, they’re too busy. I’ve been called in the middle of the night to help a friend. (I’m a nurse and I get used for my medical knowledge and to check out my friends, tend to a wound, and more) But when I need a hand, they’re too busy hand isn’t there, it’s too busy, it just never comes. I’m inconvenienced, but no one is for me. I always show up.
