You could find sneakers that aren’t the mowing the lawn style and wear an outfit where sneakers match (maybe a solid white shirt not poly blend blouse) and a cute necklace. Those shoes do not go with the outfit so even if casual is acceptable it needs to match and not look like you lost luggage.

Idk ur field but in mine those sneakers would def stand out and if you were job hunting im not sure the impression they would make. Ideally you want to be confident you’re making a good and professional impression

NEVER wear sneakers especially those bulky ones!! you can always overdress for a professional event but never underdress.

So in my field sneakers can be fine but unfortunately people are judgmental. I would worry that while sure you can “get away” with them, you aren’t making the best impression in a bulky gym shoe. At a recent conference I definitely wore sneakers, but they were lower profile and coordinated with my outfit. You definitely don’t need to do heels, flats and loafers are fine unless you’re in a conservative field. I pulled this from Pinterest to illustrate what I mean.

No. Absolutely not. If you feel you must they at least need to be dress sneakers like Cole Haan; not just grubby gym shoes.

Not acceptable. Flats are always a good choice when you think heels are a no go for the day. Skechers has really comfortable dressy shoes.

Those type of athletic sneakers are never acceptable with that professional of an outfit. Get some vejas or other low profile nicer looking sneaker
