@trademoviespodcast: ❗️📔🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Simply the most MUST WATCH documentary during this whole month. I can’t believe this only has 1100 watches! This movie is so pioneering and so important for LGBTQ history, and it’s made partly by the great Lucy Massie Phenix and Veronica Selver, the duo behind You Got To Move, the excellent 1985 documentary I covered earlier this year! The movie is: —Word Is Out: Stories from Some of our Lives (1977), by the Mariposa Film Group: Peter Adair, Nancy Adair, Andrew Brown, Rob Epstein, Lucy Massie Phenix, and Veronica Selver Available on @The Criterion Closet and @Kanopy ! Other stuff seen/heard: —Pride Critical Countdown 2004 —The Celluloid Closet, by Vito Russo —Peter Adair, 53, Director, Dies; Made Films With Gay Themes from The New York Times —Word Is Out page from IFC Center —Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters, Your Song, Daniel, and Tiny Dancer by Elton John #lgbt #lgbt🌈 #movietok #filmtok #TikTokTVFilmContest

I would recommend the documentary Southern Comfort. It follows a trans man and his found family as he deals with cancer. Also if you can find Framing Agnes, a newer film that does some fantastic stuff with the doc form by trans people about trans people

I saw this film when it came out. I came out in the early 70’s and met old lesbians born in 1895 or 1900. They were my grandmothers age. I learned a lot from them. Now I am them.
