you're right manufacturer pinpoint testing is absolutely useless in the real world. also theres so many bad diagrams if I saw this I would assume I had a bad diagram.

Just a base model :
So many bad diagrams out there. At least once a month I waste 30-45 minutes of diag time before I realize something was transposed wrong, or a connector is labeled wrong, etc.

well giving that didn’t really have good info as to what pin should go to what pin does make con. test harder, but not impossible seen as loom is exposed. regardless, As A independent tech in uk i struggle to believe/in shock main dealer tech failed to diagnose this, also that dealer doesn’t really have info, and that the sensor is 400+ but that bits besides point. I feel basics have been skipped here, things have been overcomplicated by whoever has attempted diagnoses on this, maybe just me but i always go to continuity test first🤷♂️Appreciate the reply!

So if the diagram was to tell you which is live and which is earth. Could you not test that to find this issue, if you suspected that was the fault at this point in the diag?

That’s exactly how I found this exact issue on a previous wrecked car. I did continuity test before I was going to load the wires just to see and damn if I didn’t notice pin 1 and 2 were swapped from the diagram lol. Just happened to notice I didn’t even know to look for them being swapped. Just dumb luck.

I always view OE pinpoint tests as the quickest way to solve the problem 90% of the time. They dont cover specific or unusual problems as the goal is to get the customers car fixed and out the door in the least amount of time and money. In a way, its like an Identifix diag with a bit more accuracy.

continuity test will more likely send you down an open curcuit rabbit hole, your probably front probing the abs module connector without pulling the wire cover off which would lead you to believe its an open circuit

Military fighter avionics specialist. Step 1 before any parts are changed is to confirm wiring with continuity. However completely understand that aircraft wiring diagrams are much more reliable/accurate than automotive haha

hey- vr( variable reluctance) sensors produce their own voltage. Hall Effect( newer vehicles) will have a voltage sense from the module. can we check end to end on each wire for resistance or load test that single wire? never trust color of wire always go by pin terminals. if the dtc sets open circuit code then it's a wiring ✔️

So I work with heavy equipment and I deal with broken and rubbed wires a lot so I continuity and resistance test a lot most of the time. But my question is why you don’t now maybe it’s just different industry but is there something I’m missing? I’m curious why you don’t do it. Love your videos been watching you a long time and i know your more knowledgeable so I want your input
