A small dose daily of bennzodiazepine along with anti-depressant medications have saved my life full stop. You do a disservice here by focusing on frightening ppl rather than giving context as to why many ppl need these types of medications.

Dangerous blanket statement. My Mother was on Xanax for 40 years ( Dalmane before that for 20 years ) and she lived a full productive life until she passed in December at 94 ( almost 95 ) She drove until she was 90 and lived in her home until her passing. Do not scare people who genuinely need this.

I’m so grateful my dr refused to give me Xanax after my mom died. My Dr was close to retiring and said it’s a slippery slope many don’t come back from. My close friend has been on it for 7 years and in cognitive decline. I’m not passing judgment on using it, just be careful ❤️

Get real. Benzodiazepines are life saving medications. Try dealing with panic disorder & agoraphobia & then get back with me on that.

Never ever take any benzo. No matter what. Ive been talking to doctors for 10years to get off them. They don't understand the damage these medication does to a person. I was an ambitious girl with so many possibilities and these Medicines destroyed me

Spreading lies…but why? What’s his agenda here? Can’t understand why he’s scaring people who are desperately seeking some kind of relief from their illness? What does he suggest? Suicide?

I think it’s important to be careful when calling psychiatric medications “dangerous.” That kind of language can increase fear and stigma. Like any medication, they have potential benefits and side effects, and whether the benefits outweigh the risks depends on the individual.

This is total scaremongering. I have a severe anxiety disorder and was being treated with Xanax and an antidepressant successfully for a long time. My practitioner died and I put my health into the hands of someone like this. He proceeded to take me off the 2mg of Xanax was being managed with and push my 75mg of Effexor up to 300mg. The side affects where horrendous. 5 years later I’m down to 150mg of Effexor. It’s been a nightmare. Coming down from the high dose of Effexor was a thousand times worse than stopping the Xanax. My anxiety was never again as well managed as it was on that low dose of Xanax and Effexor. If you are sitting across the table from a psychiatrist and he starts sounding like this guy, run! Run for your life!

Totally disagree. As a therapist and anxiety suffer, the med taken only as needed is a life saver.

Not really. I took 10 mg of Valium daily for 20 years and stopped cold – easy. Can't paint everyone with the same brush.

This is exaggerating side effects without appreciating the fact that the benzodiazepines are the only medications that can treat effectively severe anxiety panic attacks not to talk about seizures. I can tell you never experienced panic attacks or a patient asking for help during those dreadful moments. You need to balance your information man
