I think some people may be missing what he meant. I don’t think he’s saying people should never ask for help. I think he’s saying that when you truly love someone, you pay attention. You notice they’re struggling, hungry, overwhelmed, or in need—and sometimes you step in before they ever have to find the words to ask. It’s similar to how God loves us. Yes, we’re told to pray and ask, but God also knows what we need before we even speak it. That’s the kind of love he’s describing—love that’s observant, intentional, and proactive. Sometimes the greatest act of love is noticing.

After mom passed I always got “if you need anything let me know” but at the moment I don’t know what I need and still don’t and it’s been a year since. And to be honest no one has shown up at my house just say “ here you might not need it but here”

I’ve literally experienced this. Someone told me exactly what would help me during a time when I was struggling, then turned around and said “ but let me know if you need anything “ instead of just doing the thing they knew would help. . . .
