Just to assist people who don't understand the difference: GCC is not a qualification but a license to practice as a certificated engineer (intended for mines and factories), this means it's a legal requirement not be mixed with NQF levels. So, you can study at college or university or university of technology to meet the minimum academic requirements for GCC and complete it. Then you can practice as engineer in the mines or factories. Then when it comes to academic qualifications, one can be engineer with BSc, BEng or MEng (professional).

My brother an Engineer is a professional who holds a Bachelor degree , who applies scientific, mathematical, and logical principles to design, build, and maintain structures, machines, or systems. Yes you can be appointed as an Engineer with a Diploma, but you not a qualified Engineer. An Engineer is defined by bodies like WFEO, ECSA, Institutes of Engineers, IEA, and others. It has nothing to do with your company
