@rockerprincess90: In a new interview with Meltdown, ex‑Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn opened up about what it was really like standing next to Joey Jordison — and it turns out even the guys inside the band were blown away. Fehn, who joined Slipknot in 1998 and left in 2019, recalled the sheer intimidation of trying to fit his own parts around Joey's playing during writing and recording sessions. "It's very intimidating to be a percussionist with Joey Jordison. I'm in the studio watching this guy, like, 'What am I gonna do? This guy can cover everything. He's just a phenomenon!'" He also praised how effortlessly Joey moved between brutality and finesse: "Unbelievable how hard he hit, but yet how smooth he could be and technical. In soundcheck, he'd just whip out some jazz and you're just like, 'Well, is there anything you can't do?' He was amazing." And despite that intense pressure, Fehn says Joey always made room for the percussion to find its place. "He'd work up some parts or somebody would come up with some parts and we'd just fit it in there within his madness. I miss that dude a ton." Joey co‑founded Slipknot in 1995 and drove the band through their most iconic records before parting ways in 2013.
