Everyone saying that it’s a live action so they have creative liberty as if there isn’t still a story that has BEEN WRITTEN and TOLD FOR A SPECIFIC REASON. Crucial part of the characteristics and story plots shouldn’t just be written off for “creative liberty”. It was pretty important in the painted lady story that they were helping a fire nation village specifically. It showed that even fire nation civilians were suffering under the regime and our hero’s will protect anyone

Painted Lady was supposed to be AFTER Zuko's betrayal in the crystal catacombs. Because in that village she will realize the effects of Fire Nation ON IT'S OWN PEOPLE not only to them (Water tribes, earth citizens & air nomads)
