@newscientist: Is an electron a particle or a wave? 🟢🌊   The double slit experiment says it's both and that has far reaching consequences for physics and even reality itself.   In this conversation, physicist Sean Carroll explores some of the deepest mysteries in quantum mechanics: the famous double-slit experiment, wave function collapse, the Many Worlds interpretation, entropy and the arrow of time.   Tap link in bio to watch the full video   #physics #quantum #doubleslit

stop saying looking at. our eyes doesnt manipulate it, your laser measurement equipment does. its so mis-informative...

There's clearly a morphology boundary that's nearly imperceptible that moves (-, +, -, +) or (+, -, +, -) until it performs positively under measurement and observation, (+, -, -)... or something along those lines. but the morphology boundary has to be there, even fractionally, to produce the same result over and over again. Simulation theory... maybe. But my guess is perception theory... that it's actually more nuanced, sophisticated, and mind-blowing than that... as simple as it might end up being. What IS time? Curious 🤔 I'm working on something, maybe we'll find out!

Always that crap story about oberservation. It's the measurement that destroys the quantum state.

Our consciousness turns wave function to particle state. Measuring devices are just an equipment, they are useless and measuring nothing, if there is not involved a consciousness.

Science needs to be able to model the function of consciousness in the their algorithms. This is the basis for measurement.

Well, the observer is the only constant. So it would make sense to say nothing exists independent of an observer.

To clarify, it collapses because we have to INTERACT with it to observe or measure it. Common misconception these descriptions give is that our observations create reality somehow. That’s not what he means here.

This is why the idea of our universe being a hologram is quite likely. The system doesn't project what's around you until you observe it.

Another great experiment would be, if there would be two observers for the same experiment. The first one is observing with equipment which detects through which slit electron goes, and in another room is the second observer, who has no idea what's going on and just been asked, what do you see on the wall - a dot (particle state) or stripes like interference pattern (wave state). The first observer will see a dot on the wall, as electron or photon turns to particle, when it's been observed or measured. But what will see the second observer ? If he/she will see a interference pattern, than we could prove that consciousness is what causes superposition collapse.

probably because we don't have the instruments to capture a wave, so we see only the minimum, a particle

The wave function has definite mathematical constraints for each type of particle. So the wave function is maintained and it is real. So what if we can’t see it? We can’t see gravity or radio waves either.

absolutely. we need to go down this road, it sounds like we don't have the right measurement devices and we're not looking small enough. I.e quantum. I'm going to be super excited when we get our first scientific breakthrough about the quantum level of particles

That sounds like it’s coming from another dimension and we only see a slice of it as it passes through ours.
