What Happens on the Day •Lanterns are released into the night sky from ~5:00 PM to ~8:00 PM. •Mass releases occur every 20–30 minutes. •Some events distribute free lantern vouchers early in the morning (often from ~10:00 AM) or there’s online pre-registration for guaranteed release participation. 📍 Where It Takes Place The festival is in New Taipei City, Pingxi District (平溪區), in northeastern Taiwan. Key venues: •Pingxi Junior High School – first major event site. •Shifen Sky Lantern Square (十分天燈廣場) – main lantern release location near Shifen Station, the most popular and crowded site. 🛑 Important: Don’t confuse Pingxi Station with the main event location — Shifen Square is where the main mass lantern release happens. 🚆 How to Get There (from Taipei) 🚉 By Public Transport (Best Option) 1. Taipei → Ruifang Station (TRA/臺鐵) • ~30–40 min from Taipei Main Station to Ruifang. 2.
