By law, the maximum a business can charge is 3%, or the actual cost of the service charge. They are prohibited from making a profit on the credit card fee. I think some states limit that charge to 2%.

she missed part! That's calculated on the full amount including the tax! It's counting on you tipping on tax which you should never tip on! I was waitress for many many years and currently working a nightclub where we do receive tips and I will tell you you're 20% while appreciate it should be only on the bill not the tax!

I always do a custom amount bc im weird 😅 if its 34.67 ill do 5.33 to make it 40. I usually have it end in a whole number multiple of 5

I always tip cash directly to the waitress. I have tried to always check receipts before leaving any establishment, I have zero trust with most places and people.

watch out for gasoline stations as well. I was being charged an additional $10.00 for using the electric scanner service fee. ( I'm going back to cash). 😡
