Microsoft isn't as popular as it used to be. Some countries in Europe decided to stop using it. The fear was that the USA might cause them a problem. I would be inclined to avoid Microsoft and look at something else.

you are right to be looking at tech stocks but the price to sales ratio is around historic highs right now. average for s+p500 is 3.5 stuff like micron and sandisk are over 30
