@meg.beacon: “A mom from Ireland stayed up with me until my baby fell back asleep at 3:51am.” If someone had told me before I became a mom that one of the hardest parts wouldn’t be the diapers or the feedings, but the loneliness, I don’t think I would have believed them. Because you’re never technically alone. You’re holding a baby. Feeding a baby. Rocking a baby. Thinking about a baby. Worrying about a baby. Your whole world revolves around this tiny human. And yet there are still moments where motherhood feels incredibly isolating. Especially at night. Especially at 3am. Especially after the third wake up when your body is exhausted, your patience is thin, and your brain starts whispering that everyone else has this figured out except you. I remember sitting in the dark wondering things I wouldn’t normally give space to during the day. Why does this feel so hard? Why am I so emotional? Why does it feel like I’m the only one struggling? Why does everyone else look like they’re coping better than me? The thing nobody really prepares you for is how sleep deprivation changes everything. A small worry becomes a big one. A hard moment becomes overwhelming. A long night feels like it might never end. And when you’re awake while the rest of the world is asleep, it is so easy to believe you’re doing this alone. But you’re not. You’re really not. One of the most comforting things I’ve learned from talking to other moms is how universal this actually is. The mom in Tennessee. The mom in Ireland. The mom in Australia. The mom in California. Different lives. Different babies. Different days. Same emotions. Same exhaustion. Same doubts. Same 3am thoughts in a rocking chair. That’s why moments like this matter so much. Not because of the message itself, but because of what it represents. Someone else awake. Someone else understanding. Someone else quietly there in the same hour of the night. I think about how motherhood used to look different. There were villages. People nearby. Family down the road. Someone to sit with you in the hard hours. Now so many of us are doing those hours alone in the dark. Baby asleep. House asleep. Everyone asleep except you. So even the smallest moment of connection feels huge. Not because it fixes anything. The baby still wakes up. The bottles still need washing. The exhaustion is still there. But the loneliness softens. And sometimes that’s what gets you through. If you’re reading this at 3am, I just want you to know: You’re not the only one who’s cried during a night feed. You’re not the only one who’s questioned everything in the dark. You’re not the only one trying to make it through another wake up. There are moms everywhere, right now, doing the exact same thing. And somehow, that makes it a little more bearable. Motherhood can feel lonely. But you are never as alone as it feels. 💛 #mom #baby #MomsofTikTok #momtok #momlife

I'm 35yrs old and my toddler is 2. I wish I knew this about postpartum, just to be better prepared. We will get our sleep back. For now, our babies need us. While others may see a fatigued mother with puffy eyes, a baby sees their mother as their entire world. ❤️I hope you feel comfort in these hard moments.
