@bestwallethacks: Don't plug your phone into a car's USB ports until you watch this. If you plug your phone into the USB ports of a car you don't own, you may be exposing a ton of data about yourself, your contacts, and your text messages to the car's infotainment system. USB carries power and data. When you link it to a car, it can pull all of that ton of information into the infotainment system and store it indefinitely. In a rental car, you need to make sure to delete that information when you're done with the rental. Remove your phone and then purge the contacts and call history. In a rideshare, this won't be possible so avoid plugging it in at all.
Great advice! Every time I get a rental car, I try to delete all of the phones still listed. Sometimes I’ve seen 10 phones still listed. Unbelievable that people don’t delete their phone info when returning the car!
