@samrinophotography: Great blue devouring a large white perch . Last time I posted a great blue heron swallowing a fish people kept asking oh that fish was already dead …well here is why ..with large prey they will stab it numerous times and wait until the prey is disabled or dead before swallowing. Less chance of injury that way for the heron while swallowing. I am only showing a small portion of it standing there with its beak clean through the fish waiting for it to stop struggling but you get the idea. They will also always eat the fish head first so the spines are pointed the opposite direction and fold down as it swallows it . They are able to breathe while swallowing huge prey as they have an opening at the base of their they breathe through. Also their esophagus is separate from their windpipe allowing them to breathe while swallowing large prey without suffocating. People also ask how soon will they eat again after a meal like this . Their digestive system and metabolism is incredibly fast . I have seen them eat a couple of fish this size within short span or same day after resting for a few hours . Their digestive system can break down everything including bones, scales, fur etc….due to extremely strong stomach acid in 1 compartment and a second compartment that crushes the good for final digestion. Primitive system but extremely effective !! NO AI or drones ever used in any of my videos!! Just a man with a camera and lens doing what he loves ..filming beautiful wildlife!!
