How about US 1-0 England in 1950? So shocking that newspapers thought the wire report was a typo and reported it as 1-10. Cameroon were the African champion two years prior. And Bulgaria was good enough to make it to the quarterfinal. So it’s not like either of those two that came completely out of nowhere.
