I did the same thing! Had no idea my first 10 years in education that I needed to be contributing to the teacher retirement system! 10 years lost towards retirement! 🤦🏽♀️

I retired from the Air Force before they started the TSP. When I started my second career I started to contribute to my companies 401K. Twenty-four years later of contributing and doing the “catch up,” it all worked out. You’re right though, don’t procrastinate; however, even in your 40’s it’s possible to have a nice nest egg if you max your contributions. The plan now, leave it alone until RMD’s.

I got a 401k from my old job, pension from teachers union and a Roth IRA I max out yearly. I’m 37 and I don’t want to worry about being older with nothing.
