@europeanspaceagency: Watch a desert transform 🏜️ Over the past decade, agriculture has expanded across part of Egypt's Western Desert. The bright red circles are crops, shown in false colour to make vegetation stand out against the surrounding desert. Their shape comes from centre‑pivot irrigation systems, where sprinklers rotate around a central well to water crops in this extremely arid environment. There's another change to spot, too.
