Not gone lie I think you’re reaching because I don’t think the “hashtag rap” style was as intentional as people are now with the attempts at going viral. Wayne had been rapping like that around the time of the Carter III which iirc was before twitter had a major influence in pop culture.

A non music example of this. A lot of classic Western European novels from the 1800s have ungodly lengths (800+ pages) and long passages that ultimately don’t connect much to the plot. This is because novels were seen as passive consumption, and writers got paid per page.
