I’m glad you used 7% to be conservative. Too many creators on here are using 10-12%.

Isn’t $3M only enough for one person? Not 2? Health costs alone would crush that fast.

FI rocks! Keep saving though man. Too young to stop….. My wife and I are both 53 and have a combined $4.2 retirement. But, we also have $1.5 brokerage and $1.2 HYSA. ( buffers for shit market). You need more than just retirement funds. Good luck.

Seems to be underestimating inflation. The buying power of the 12000 month at 55 will likely be less than the 7000 you are spending today.

I hit coast now for when I'm 50, but I'm still investing the same so I just have more when I retire in 10 years.

I imagine you’re a little nervous 10 years out after such a long bull run. Of course no one knows when the next large correction will happen, but it certainly feels imminent.

At what point would you actually feel comfortable stopping? I’m in a similar boat to you… reached Coast FIRE recently. Between 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, and taxable investments, I’m sitting at close to $800k at 33 because I started investing at 22 and had a great company match. I don’t plan to stop or slow down any time soon. Make hay while the sun is shining, as they say. I make enough that I’m able to invest a lot without hampering my lifestyle much. I just don’t know when or how to let off the gas at this point.

At 3.5% inflation for 20 years: $7,000 × 1.035²⁰ = ~$13,930 So you’d need about $14K in 20 years to have the same buying power as $7K today.
