I have one child, it’s crazy to me that people cannot comprehend people choosing to be child free. I love my daughter and now that I have her, my life would never be the same without her, but I actually super get it. I think defensive parents have regrets……

I had my kids later in life. I thought I was prepared. I really, really wanted them. But it was like a train hit me. Way more disruptive than I ever expected. I can’t say I wish I had not had them, but it certainly wasn’t as wonderful and magical as society makes it seem, especially if you don’t live near extended family that can help.

I think us parents are sharing a perspective for undecided people in the comments. I agree with you that traveling with kids is different but I for example think you look close in age to me, I had my kids over a decade ago so now most of the things childfree people say are their reasons to not have kids applies to me now that my kids are older. kids being really difficult time sucks is pretty short. once they're in school they're not even home most of the day. Some people are on the fence about kids and hearing different perspectives is good.

We were married for 14 years before we had our surprise baby. There is no comparison. Nothing can touch the easy life we had of just living as two adults with 2 incomes and no kids. It is unmatched. Then we had 2 in 2 years, they are now 11 and 10. We are finally getting back to the easier days since we had them, but no comparison. This doesn’t mean I don’t love parenting now. It means I have seen and experienced both the wonderfully easy life as a DINK, and the overwhelming joy of being a mother. My life before kids had meaning and purpose and so does my life after having kids.

Pregnancy, Labor, postpartum, late nights, school schedules, kids sports, loud noise, no weekends off, stress, potential disabilities. All the reasons i chose childfree ❤️

It bugs parents because its true... Traveling with kids is not exactly a vacation from work anymore. Just the anxiety leading up to the trip of how they will act on the plane would ruin it for me. Save the travel for when they are older or leave them home.

Like how don’t they get it? “I travel too” “I can go outside to a restaurant too” etc. WE KNOW YOU CAN. But with kids and without kids it’s two different experiences. If you like to travel with kids and go on holiday with kids then do it. But I won’t. Cause it’s not the same for me. I’d be stressed all the time.

Parents have stress and anxiety about keeping their child safe whether at home or on vacation. I don’t have a child, so that’s less stress and anxiety for me. It’s pretty simple to understand! It is not the same!

I can’t understand why anyone has a problem with this! I have a daughter that I love more than anything in the world and I can do all these things with her but it is absolutely different! If you want to be free to travel, veg, do whatever you want whenever you want then you’re absolutely right to want to be childfree! I don’t think having kids means you give up everything for yourself but it SHOULD involve some level of sacrifice for them. Not everyone wants to or needs to have kids and make that sacrifice. Good for you for knowing what you want in life!

Meanwhile most of the people who have told me you can travel with your children are reposting those reels about how going on vacation with children is just parenting them elsewhere or how those are vacations for their children, not for the parents.

This is honest. This is from someone with teenage kids. Kids are a blessing but they are a drain. Emotionally, financially, physically your life becomes more about them than you. It’s immensely rewarding but it comes with sacrifice. And if that sacrifice isn’t something you want for yourself that doesn’t make you a bad person. Neither side has any moral high ground to preach from. It’s about what’s best for you and your life.

100%!! My travel goal was too see all 7 Wonders of the World. I accomplished that goal in 2024! Most of my friends with kids tell me, "I live through you." Because they know they can't do that type of travel! And that is all about the choices we make and priorities. My priority was not having kids! lol
