Dan: This may be your best program- comparing AI to airlines crystallizes the business model. Low margins, high high capital investment. This sounds like a pitch to invest in Pan Am. Sorry, did that once before.

Is OpenAI the airline in this analogy? US govt doesn’t invest directly in airlines. What you are suggesting sounds terrible for the US tax payer. We are essentially buying at the top. And getting an airy future promise in return.

AI would be a Constructive Flight Terminal Operations Tracking, landing solution without errors if ever perfected, direct connection to each plan, eliminates Tower control

Chris. I have questions :
Great overview and analogies. But I think it’s missing open source and/or cheaper ai run on local devices as part of ai’s immediate future. Not just cloud. In other words, there is a VHS/Blu-ray stage that is going to appear on devices like NVIDIA’s Jetson Orin Nano Super, which is $250 total, not per month. This js why Dario and others are panicking and basically begging for government intervention imo, under the guise of security, why they only recently started caring about. I don’t think it’s security for us they care about. Only security for their companies.

They are also vetting who gets access to the new GPT 5.6 model. Sam had a former startup where he wanted to scan the iris of every human. Model companies could build perfect profile on every user.

Is Japan not in the same trap - they want to keep spending and borrowing so they need to keep interest rates low.
If all the models can be reverse engineered at a fractuon of the original development cost - by China or anyone...how do the model companies have a viable business?
