Beliefs of music being haram have actually been popularized pretty recently by fundamentalist movements and the rise in popularity of the hanafi school. For centuries music was very important in Islam especially in the east. While I respect the options of people who thinks it’s haram it’s also ok to have a different opinion. Islam is not a faith with one set doctrine, it is ok to look into other schools of thoughts and opinions. The only doctrine Muslims are required to follow is the words of the Quran and the Prophet and his companions peace be upon them all.
