@allie_voss: Dating apps don’t work because they run counter to the way human attraction develops. For some reason we understand this when it comes to advertising products, but dating apps ignore it when it comes to romance. I wonder why?
Omg so are you telling me I WILL end up betting on the weather with Kalshi?!

This actually makes so mucb sense. I dont know whether I like someone after just a first date unless they do or say somethinf truly apalling or that is a deal breaker. But I feel like most people are using that one date to determine if they like me and it kind of sucks cause we arent operating on the same rules. But low key I get it.

This is also why looking for an instant spark in dating is a terrible strategy. If you go on a date and it’s just fine, it’s totally reasonable to go on more dates with that person. Get some more exposure!

Met my wife on a dating app. We didn’t super click until like the 5th date. I did a lot of, “I don’t hate this person, so I will go on another date,” and I am glad I did.

I think proximity attraction is very sweet. You're around this person so often so you become more familiar with them and that familiarity makes you feel safe. I think we should all be so lucky to have someone we feel safe with.

Dating apps feel like showing your friend that video that you found hilarious. They usually don’t find it funny because it’s forced and now you’re just standing there awkward trying to convince them you didn’t waste their time

Also if I’m casually around them for some time I get to know their personality which ultimately determines if I’m attracted to them or not

so what I am hearing is that the ideal dating app would put you in a group of other singles while doing an unrelated activity and sort of just let things happen organically

Nah bc once you’ve swiped enough it starts looping the same people over and over… so it’s exactly like that ad you ignore the first time but by the 20th time you see it you’re considering it 🤣😭

Organic dating where people meet in the wild is probably the best way, but with online dating in the fact that many people work from home, it’s getting harder to meet people in the wild

dating apps are profit machines, they're made to keep you hooked. if everyone found their person(s) on the dating apps they wouldn't make money

Perennial_Curiosity :
Per your last point the dating apps 100% prevent people from matching.
They are financially incentivized to keep you swiping and convince you that paying for a premium subscription will help you find a partner. If too many people find someone and delete their accounts the user numbers will go down, and as a social media company that is a bad thing.
