Apply for EB2 NIW, i140 + i485 at the same time. Then do i765 for adjustment of status. You seem like you highly qualify with all the publications you did. All the best champ!!!

PhD program. I’ve hosted 10 exchange students with most of them from African countries to include Ghana. One returned for university studying mechanical engineerings. Likewise, he wants to earn a living and take care of his family. He will continue to grad school with the goal of continuing to help the family. Grad school is great, productive pit stop along the overall journey. Best wishes in the road you select. Your determination along with the balance of your responsibilities will help guide you.

Take the PHD while working on your project if you have an amazing PI he could partner with you and incorporate whatever you’re doing into his lab while you own it.

I just finished my PhD. You can do the start up as a phd student. Especially if its a fully funded program you get health insurance and a living stipend. Depending on the university you are going to, there are also funds to help you with start up and resources to do it. Look for something similar to Yale’s Tsai Center. Wish you the best!
