This has happened to me once in Sapporo. I was visiting family, my stepfather is Japanese, and I agreed to tbe interview. At the end of the interview I spoke to them in fluent Japanese, thanking them for their time and hardwork, and their reactions were hilarious. So I did a whole second interview in Japanese because they wanted to know why I was fluent. I grew up in Sapporo and attended public junior high and high school before I returned to America at 19😂
