Girlll about the stomach upset with the food, as an Indian I love spice and I eat too much and get ill. Very rarely it has to do with hygiene

"it was worth overpaying" exactly. if you pay an an extra 500 rupees that is literally $7AUD, $5USD and 4GBP. If you have the privilege to be able to travel, you're already winning. Paying a bit extra when out and about, buying from locals isn't going to hurt your wallet in the grand scheme of things.
