Here’s my issue with formula. I don’t want to give my baby something that has soybean or canola oil in it. I strictly avoid seed oils myself, so why would I feed my baby something I refuse to eat? I’m all for formula as long as it’s clean ingredients and not this slop that so many companies are trying to sell, but unfortunately it’s near impossible to find anything that doesn’t included some sort of seed oil in it. So I’m very hopeful I produce enough milk, otherwise I’m going to have to find a better alternative

I switched to formula because my under supply was making me miserable. Best decision I could’ve made, now I go about my day feeling happy and present rather than dreading every feed!

the beef between the two is far more present in comment sections than in real life. speaking as a somewhat new mom that breastfeeds, the disappointment is really aimed at the lack of knowledge and understanding about our bodies and breastfeeding women are provided. These OBs and hospitals truly have such little info to give about breastfeeding and it makes it SO confusing in the beginning. My nurses had me relatch over and over at times because it didn’t look right, I was so in my head about it. Absolutely STRESSED. I had a midwife at the time and she was like “looks great” and my girl went on to breastfeed like a champ. I felt so misguided at the hospital. Had I not had guidance outside of that I’d have thought it was all going wrong, so we often question why some moms think they couldn’t breastfeed so early on - because of experiences like mine. The conversation can’t even be started because it is fully met with the accusation of shaming. I have formula mama friends, I do not think less of them or their babies. Part of being supportive is being able to have these open conversations with other moms about our experiences without jumping to conclusions about each other’s intentions.

It’s because of moms who constantly share and post pumping and breastfeeding online it makes others feel bad or guilty

The why is because breast milk is much healthier than formula. When formula is a choice it’s disappointing bc they could be getting better nutrition BUT formula is an amazing tool for those who can’t breastfeed. (I know someone who didn’t try to BF and chose formula so she could drink and smoke cigs and weed freely, so yes I judge in those circumstances but NEVER when it’s because of lactation issues or needing to be on certain medications)
