⚠️WOUNDS/SCARS⚠️ On January 9th 2022 my best friend, her dad and I went out skiing. It was a Sunday so normally we would've had school the next morning, but turns out I didn't. Everything was all fun and games, until it all happened, at about 1 o'clock I got badly injured after I did a half backflip involuntarily and landed on my neck. This was about to be my worst nightmare and the thing that would change my life forever, and would force me to give up all my dreams and make new ones, because they weren't possible doing anymore. One of them were becoming a world champion in gymnastics. I trained hard for that. When I arrived at the hospital, they told me I wasn't paralyzed, but I could feel it myself. They kept telling me I wasn't paralyzed, and I kept telling them that I was/am. A month goes by and still nothing had changed. One of the doctors came into my room and told me I was paralyzed for life, I started crying. While I was in the hospital I collapsed a lung three times which made the doctors put in a tracheotomy. I also had broken my neck and shoulder blade in the accident, luckily nothing in my brain was affected. After the accident I went from five gymnastics trainings a week to zero. After the accident I was left paralyzed from the chest and down and in my fingers. I don't have any movement or sensibility from the chest and down, except in my right hand I can stretch out my fingers and in my left hand can barely stretch them out but I can close them pretty well. I had a nerve transplant which made this possible for me to do. If I hadn’t done that my finger function would’ve been completely paralyzed. More detailed story about the day: We went up to the top on the slope. I didn’t realize that my bsf had fallen off the skiing cup so I went all the way up. It was 3.2F/-16C and the slope were newly prepped so it was pretty icy bc of the temperature. I thought about going the other way. I didn’t. I thought that if I went the forest way nobody would find me if I got injured. So I went down the main way. I couldn’t swing sideways. I finally did it, but i got stuck on a hill with three trees on my left side which is where the way was. I tried going backwards but i felt that I didn’t have enough control. I couldn’t go in the middle of the trees so I tried going forwards which forced me to turn hard left. If I didn’t turn fast enough I would end up going on a big jump. That’s exactly what happened. I went on the jump, took a half backflip and landed on my neck. I thought to myself. I am dying, I am dying, I am dying! Then everything went black. I was conscious but I don’t remember much after i fell only some blurred parts. Before I knew it I was at a new hospital in another city talking to doctors, taking mr and ct scans, then surgery. Now I’m trying to get used to my “new life”. Tysm for taking your time reading my story🫶🏼
