@jademonaco: For the past 4 years, I’ve constantly been changing environments. Every time, I have to meet new people, start over, and try to make new friends while everyone else already has their own group, their habits, and shared memories together. I always have to adapt and find my place without really knowing where it is. Almost 2 years ago, I arrived at a school where I didn’t even know the language. Thankfully, I had friends who helped and supported me, and that really helped me move forward. But even with that, I always had this feeling that I didn’t truly belong, like I was somehow different from the others or always a little “outside” of everything. At first, I was scared that I would never fit in and would always stay on the outside. Still, I adapted and did my best every single day, even when it was difficult. Now, I find myself in Italy, living completely on my own. It’s a life I’ve always dreamed of: discovering a new country, becoming independent, and building something for myself. But sometimes, that dream is also scary. Because always being “the foreigner” in the group, the one who doesn’t understand every joke or every reference, gets exhausting. You smile even when you feel a little lost.
