100 % u can record police. they will say they are recording you too. but they don't tell you . they with stop u from getting there body cams . they will also redact parts of the video.

You don’t have to assist police in their investigation and you can choose to remain silent talking to the cops. Will usually get you nowhere. It’s best not to ever talk to police unless you’re the one that called them.
