@drlawtonplasticsurgery: So here’s how I batch Negronis, and yes, I get that they aren’t actually Negronis and that most #altonbrown #goodeats #chicken #coffee #breakfast
Why call it a Negroni and get people all in a tizzy?? You’ve made it a completely different cocktail, so give it a name and call it your own! “The Alton is a play on the classic Negroni, but with an almost entirely different ingredient list.”

S3: replace the romaine or iceberg for alfalfa sprouts.

If you’re chilling or freezing batched cocktails, you need to add water for dilution. C’mon.

Would you add any water to dilute it since it’s batched and already cold when you’re serving? You don’t get the dilution you would have with a stirred drink, right?

A compromise would be Plymouth gin, which is very light on the most heavy botanicals, especially light on the Juniper.

I'm with you. If the gin isn't the main flavor, it's wasted in the mix.

My favorite way to negroni is to make a milk punch with it, add a bit of a nice balsamic vinegar and add a strawberry basil syrup to it. Absolutely delightful in the late summer months

I really think the best is quality vermouth cocchi di torino 1 oz, Campari 1 oz, and 1.25 oz a good gin St George Botanivore and a castelvetrano olive. Try exactly this and tell me I’m wrong. Gin is the way. Cynar is a good move and punt e mes is too but starting with the right gin and a seriously good vermouth are the right moves before entirely changing the cocktail.

I think this was Bourdain‘s favorite cocktail. I’m 65 and I’ve never had one. I will, however be having a dry Bombay Sapphire martini in a few minutes.

Alton, a couple tips from a craft bartender: instead of negating the flavour from the gin because it would be overpowered, use a stronger flavour. Something like a sweeter genever with a stronger juniper profile, or a strong herbaceous gin like the Botanivore from St. George. Vodka is a lazy out in my opinion. This drink is nice but slightly unbalanced, especially if you do swap for something like Botanivore. You can solve this by swapping out the sweet vermouth with something a bit sweeter like a Bianco vermouth, or a dry/cream sherry. Just my two cents.
