You can do that in subjects like English, where marking is subjective. What about math? It's right or wrong. If you got 100% right, you shouldn't be downgraded because there were 6 students with the same mark. Marking needs to be standardized. Not penalizing students.

The fact that people are acting like this is a new thing and not just them trying to resell you grading on a curve. If there was really a problem with an over, inflation of grades on a large scale, curving would not help that even slightly.

in canada (specifically alberta) to prevent grade inflation we do a test called pde(provincial diploma exam) and they are graded by multiple teachers and they are worth i beleive 50% of your grade so maybe US should do the same?

I was the brainer with 95% average in highschool. Most kids got 70s. I had the second highest grades in my school of 2000 kids. I worked hard and I earned them and I felt good about them. But if I was in school now and everyone around me was getting those grades then that 95% would mean nothing. When the limit is 100% what do the elite students get for marks?

Schools in Canada already have this. Many schools/faculties require a certain distribution of all grades within a certain percentage.
