I recommend a couple of things, get an insulator for the exhaust pipe, it will keep the heat from it from heating your home, and get a portable blackout curtain to put on the window during the day to also cut down on the heat that gets inside. Stay cool!

Wrap the tube with towels and tape. It will make a HUGE difference in the heat radiating!

Does split have a different meaning in France? In the USA splits are attached to walls.

You should tape up all of those openings where hot air can get in. And raise up the unit to minimize the hose length

I had one of those in Puerto Rico. The problem with Puerto Rico is the windows were all Hurricane slats with NO glass. Trying to get the slats to close and be airtight was impossible and frustrating! Also it’s so humid that the A/c water collected water daily and required to be emptied, not that big of a deal. Most people don’t understand how HOT It gets there! The cost of electricity is also insanely high. That’s if they don’t do a rolling blackout so they can keep San Juan and the casino’s going! Sometimes a few hours and sometimes a few days! What did me in was the last category 1 hurricane. It dumped so much rain that we had no power and no running water for about 5 months. Imagine no TV, No internet, no computers, and no flushing toilets or showers for 5 months. I was seriously going crazy and I had it with Puerto Rico after that

I mean the French did the revolution, can they make AC units with environmentally sound and esthetically compatible and easy to set up with historical buildings?

16° Celsius is roughly 63° Fahrenheit coming out of that a/c unit. That should drop the temperature 15 to 20 degrees in most mid - sized room.

wrap the exhaust hose with a quilt or something to keep the heat from coming into the apartment. that hose is the worst thing they ever designed when they made those I bought a insulated sleeve that you can put around it and it helps a lot. you're talking at least a few degrees difference if not more.... seriously makes a big difference if you can wrap that hose just make sure the vents sucking the air in or not covered because it'll hurt the efficiency of the air conditioning for you too good luck
