@allthingzdayzecrime: 🚨 CASE UPDATE: Prosecutors Issue 175 Brady Notices in Cases Linked to Former HPD Officer Ashley Gonzalez The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing criminal cases involving former Houston Police officer Ashley Gonzalez after racist videos she posted on social media led to her firing in April 2026. In the viral video, Gonzalez said that if a Black person was on her 911 call the next day, they were “going to jail.” After 13 Investigates identified cases connected to Gonzalez, prosecutors discovered numerous cases they had initially missed due to a reported search error. The DA’s Office has now issued approximately 175 Brady notices—75 in pending cases and about 100 in resolved cases. A Brady notice does not mean misconduct occurred or that a conviction will automatically be overturned. It alerts defense attorneys to information that could affect an officer’s credibility or reveal potential bias. Gonzalez is appealing her termination, seeking reinstatement, back pay, and benefits. Her appeal is scheduled for August 2026. She still holds her Texas peace officer license, although Houston Mayor John Whitmire has asked the state to revoke it. The DA’s review remains ongoing. If investigators later find evidence of misconduct—such as falsifying reports, lying under oath, or civil rights violations—additional criminal charges, overturned convictions, or civil lawsuits could follow.
