Their point is is that it’s challenging stereotypical gender roles, ones that are commonly known to be harmful to women. The man gets on his knees BECAUSE he is the “dominant” one in the relationship, switching it around is challenging those roles.

why exactly isnt it feminist ? whats "shameful" or embarassing about proposing to somebody you love? its a diff scenario if the guy didnt propose bcs he didnt want her and the girl got sick of it and took matters into her own hands. But assuming the couple has a healthy loving relationship, i personally dont see any issue with it. How will we dismantle the patriachy if we keep up gender roles?

but what’s wrong with that tho?? they just wanna abolish gender stereotypes. they’re not saying all women should propose now. they’re saying it doesn’t matter if the woman proposes and that people shouldn’t feel repulsed when they see their gender roles being abolished.

I guess it goes both ways with proposing or whatever but to me why im not fond of this is it feels so belittling as a women to go down on one knee to ask a man to spend his life with her idk😭 men only hurt us and even now only the MINORITY of men are actually here to support us women and fight for our rights and the rest? It doesn’t ’abolish gender roles’. It actually further perpetuates male domination. Thinking women proposing is feminist is like a man saying them getting catcalled is the same as when we get cat called. Thinking women proposing is feminist is like thinking that if men get to wear bedazzled jeans they’ll be less misogynistic despite them having different forms of fashion throughout the centuries and misogyny from men still being prevalent. Proposing to a man as a woman within a patriarchal system isn’t feminist.
